My Q1 Slow Burn (Not a Race)

Happy (belated) Q2!

For me, the real year always feels like it starts now, not on January 1st. Younger me used to immediately draft lofty goals and using the new year as the perfect excuse to kick off ambitious new habits. This time around, I took a different approach. I’m easing into things, deliberately taking my time to be thoughtful about what I want to do and giving myself the space to truly understand my goals so I can be intentional about how I pursue them.

This Q1 truly felt like a "relax and reset" quarter. Instead of fixating on the year ahead or specific achievements, I focused on simply being. I tried to listen to what felt right in the moment. A key theme for me this year is cultivating a sense of being grounded, balanced, and present – feeling centered and opening myself up to moments of genuine joy and laughter. On the social front, I don't think I was as connected as I could have been. Talking more often with friends I don't see regularly was a goal lingering in the back of my mind (and honestly, I failed miserably at this in Q1 – but hey, there's always Q2!).

If Q1 had a theme, it was definitely establishing new (or rediscovered) hobbies. I found a running routine that felt sustainable and genuinely enjoyable. The commitment felt real when I finally signed up for a 10k and put a training plan in place – fingers crossed it gets me there! I also officially launched my personal blog (a huge thank you to anyone reading!), and I'm working on establishing a consistent writing schedule to hone my craft and expand my creative outlet. And my culinary adventures continued! I kept trying new recipes, and I'm fully leaning into my journey to become the next master chef (Gordon Ramsay, count your days!).

Amidst the relaxing and hobby-building, I also made sure to soak up moments of pure joy. Here are some highlights from Q1:

  • Attending my friend’s housewarming in her new home!

  • Many brunches with the girls.

  • Watching Gustavo and Maria get married in Mexico.

  • Finally getting Global Entry.

  • My birthday! Finally entering my late 20s at the ripe age of 28.

  • My bestie Francys visited me for a week+.

  • Getting my hair done and going back to my natural blonde roots.

  • Cooking egusi for the very first time and succeeding.

  • Buying my Bottega Andiamo clutch (shout out to Tim).

Looking ahead, Q2 might be a bit busier. I don't know, we'll see! My main hopes for the next three months involve being more social and intentionally spending quality time with friends. I also want to incorporate a little more travel and exploration into my life – likely keeping it domestic for now.

Byeeee.
